SUMMARY
As part of the public tender “Development of Digital Competences and Basic Computer and IT Skills 2024-2026,” the University of Maribor was awarded the RINko project: development of digital competences and basic computer and IT skills in kindergartens.

The RINko project focuses on developing and implementing basic computer and information technology skills (RIN) in preschool education. In today’s digital society, it is essential that even the youngest children acquire the basic digital knowledge and skills necessary for successful participation in the modern world. The project addresses the development of adapted didactic approaches and materials to enable the early introduction of digital competences in the preschool period.

The purpose of the RINko project is to contribute to the early introduction of basic computer science and information technology skills in kindergartens, to develop adapted pedagogical and didactic approaches in computer science and information technology, and to empower educators by providing appropriate training and support.

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Education and Science (MVI) and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (NextGenerationEU).

The main objectives of the RINko project are:
to increase basic RIN skills in children in kindergartens
to develop and implement innovative pedagogical strategies for teaching RIN
to train educators to teach RIN effectively
to create high-quality teaching units (lesson plans) and materials that will remain accessible after the project ends
to promote cooperation and the exchange of good practices between educational institutions

PROJECT RESULTS
The expected results of the project include:
the establishment of innovative departments to test didactic approaches and pedagogical strategies for developing basic RIN skills in preschool children
the development and publication of didactic units (teaching scenarios) on a freely accessible website
the development and publication of approaches by all participating VIZs to improve the basic RIN skills of learners, including a catalog of skills
the training of educators to teach RIN content
the establishment of an online platform for sharing resources and good practices
the establishment of a network of kindergartens to promote communication and cooperation between VIZ

The target groups of the RINko project are preschool children, educators, and other professionals in kindergartens.

The project is funded by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union – NextGenerationEU as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
