Students from the Faculty of Education in Maribor accepted the challenge of preparing an Easter event for children in the Botanical Garden, organized by the Society of Friends of the Botanical Garden. They gained valuable experience guiding and accompanying young children who visited the Botanical Garden with their parents to enjoy the beauty of plants and relax in a natural setting. After this event, the students contributed their knowledge and experience from various sources to enrich and enhance the experience for children and parents by proposing updates to the educational trail through the Botanical Garden.

Materials were created for group and individual games, which were tested with children from a nearby elementary school during the project. The student team was joined by a student with extensive knowledge of plants and a media communications student, who managed event promotion, news updates, video documentation, and the careful design of materials. The created materials are compiled in a handbook that details the experiential games and includes selected photographs. QR codes link to published videos and instructions for playing the games in the botanical garden environment. Two videos were also produced, offering a virtual experience filmed with a 360° camera.

The resulting handbook is intended for parents, educators, and teachers to help children spend more time in nature, where all their senses can develop. Children will learn to observe and explore, marvel at the variety of colors, natural objects, beautiful views, and the joy of togetherness. The handbook supports relaxed leisure time in a prepared natural environment, fostering experiences of nature, connection, and constant change, and inspiring the discovery of new scientific knowledge related to the chosen natural environment, even outside the botanical garden.
