The Faculty of Education at the University of Maribor (UM PEF) is implementing a scientific research project in sport entitled “Development of a model for monitoring basic movement patterns as an aid in guiding children towards a chosen sport” (RR-22-073), which is co-financed by the Sports Foundation for the co-financing of sports programs, development activities in sports, sports organization, sports events and the promotion of sports, as well as social and environmental responsibility in sports in 2022 (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 172/21) by the Sports Foundation.

The project also involves collaborators from the Faculty of Sport at the University of Ljubljana and from the field of sports practice.

The main purpose of the project is to establish systematic monitoring of the development of basic motor patterns in childhood.

The objectives of the project in 2022 are:

    1. to examine measurement procedures for monitoring the development of basic motor patterns in childhood,
    2. to prepare a widely applicable measurement procedure for monitoring the development of basic motor patterns in Slovenia,
    3. to ensure the validity and reliability of the measurement procedure for monitoring the development of basic motor patterns in Slovenia, and
    4. to inform stakeholders from the field of sports practice about the results of the project.
