The department connects teachers, psychologists, special pedagogues and experts in the field of educational and communication technology, whose primary employer is the Faculty of Education of the University of Maribor. The members of the department carry out teaching assignments in the scope of all undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral study programmes of the Faculty of Education, as part of full-time and part-time studies and in the framework of in-service training programmes. Their work aims at enabling and promoting the professional development of future and active teachers and preschool teachers. The department also sees to the implementation of the part-time second-level study programme – Inclusion in Education. In addition to teaching, the members of the department are actively engaged in researching education along the entire vertical of the school system. They present their findings in monographs and journals with international recognition, and at various national and international conferences and meetings. At the same time, the members of the department participate in national and international professional bodies, various professional associations, and liaise with teacher education institutions abroad. Through their work, they provide for the flow of knowledge and integration in the national and international pedagogical space.
